Distribution Manager

Details: DISTRIBUTION MANAGER: Newton, Kansas. Prefer a Bachelor Degree and at least five years' of experience as purchasing and transportation manager.  Responsible for the management of the company's transportation needs to ensure on time orders delivery. Also responsible for purchasing, price negotiation, planning and inventory control of materials. This position is tasked with cost reduction on freight, raw and packaging materials cost and manage department budget.                                Work directly with transportation companies to ensure the best pricing on shipping of finished goods. Through contract negotiations and the development of partnerships in the transportation industry, ensures the best possible pricing on shipping costs and service to the company's customers.    Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets and freight cost is in line with price quoted to customers.   Implement transportation schedule and direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles.   Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints.   Monitor operations to ensure that company’s is in compliance with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, and DOT regulations.   Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits and training for transportation.   Coordinate and oversee preventive maintenance, repairs and collision insurance claims of the company’s fleet.    Negotiate and authorize contracts with equipment, equipment maintenance and monitor contract fulfillment. Forecast procurement needs.  Build and develop relationships with key suppliers and customers Purchased raw materials, packaging materials and services as per negotiated and appropriately approved. Review quotations. Prepare purchase requisitions, approve and issues purchase orders in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions. Inventory Control Finished and Raw ingredients and Inventory management –on time inventory- Discuss defective or unacceptable raw materials and packaging materials with vendors and investigate cause of problem and take corrective and preventative action. Ensure supplier compliance with AIB, SQF 2000 or third party audits for Food Safety. Maintain and developed regulatory requirements for supplier certifications Manage vendor relationships and assist in building effective partnerships. Responsible for planning, developing and buying materials, supplies and cost effective way Negotiate with suppliers or brokers and help to lower the cost and secure agreements. Risk management of purchase ingredients, including future contracts
